The Port of Charleston is expanding to meet the short and long-term needs of our clients. We are confident we have ample capacity to remain well ahead of demand, even as demand increases from new distribution center developments in the area. The capacity of our current facilities in operated in the current style is approximately 2.6 million TEU per year. Of course, changes in operating styles, decreases in dwell times, and increases in container yard handling areas will increase capacity.

Port expansion is happening in three ways: Efficiency improvements; Expanding existing facilities; constructing new facilities. The Port of Charleston is making steady progress on all three fronts.
